Somerville joins Jean Cacciabaudo, MD, Peconic Bay’s new medical director, and Stanley Katz, MD, a nationally renowned interventional cardiologist and new chair of cardiology at PBMC. Katz was instrumental in the planning and design of Peconic Bay Medical Center’s new Cardiac Cath Labs. A pioneer in bringing interventional cardiology services to Long Island, Dr. “Susan Somerville is a strong choice to bring world-class cardiology services to the East End,” said Stanley Katz, MD, chair and professor of cardiology at the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine, and a practicing cardiologist with East End Cardiology Associates, Eastern Suffolk’s leading cardiology practice. Somerville’s first responsibilities will be the construction and development of PBMC’s new $60 million Corey Critical Care Pavilion that will house the East End’s most comprehensive advanced cardiac program, the Kanas Regional Heart Center. She also attended the Wharton Fellows Program in Management for Nurse Executives at the University of Pennsylvania. Joseph's College, her RN degree from Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens, and her masters degree in health administration from Hofstra University. Previously, she held several key leadership positions within Northwell Health, including executive director of North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. Somerville most recently served as president of Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in Manhattan.
